He can conquer all obstacles to achieve his mission, since his objective is noble and worthy. In the days of prosperity and pleasure, we sleep and enjoy and know not what we are. But in adversity, the inner man wakes up and we come to know our real strength and weakness.

(a) Importance of Democratic Values

Ans. The Term ‘democracy’ is associated with the Greek word. ‘Demokratia’ where ‘Demos’ refers to people and ‘Kratos’ refers to rule. This term was introduced in the middle of the 5th century BCE. It was coined to denote the existing ruling system in ancient Greek especially in the city-state of Athens.

To explain the importance of democracy some fundamental questions need to be answered. What exactly is meant, when people say ‘democracy’? Why it is assumed democracy should be the preferred form of government in the world? How does it compare to other models for political organization? And why is there such a widespread perception that ‘democracy is under threat? When talking about the importance of democracy? It is important to define it in its correct perspective.

In Europe and English speaking world it is often assumed democracy naturally takes the form of liberal democracy popular sovereignty but limited by constitution which guarantees individual freedoms (such as speech) and rights (such as to a fair trial). Crucially these essential freedoms are not subject to a democratic vote.Infect, democracy does not necessarily have to be liberal. Certain nations today have non-liberal democracies where voting continues but liberal characteristics such as an independent judiciary and free press have been compromised.

Principles of Democracy –

There are mainly five principles like republic socialist sovereign, democratic and secular with all these quality political parties will contest for elections. There will be many bribes given to the needy person who require food, money, shelter and ask them to vote- whom they want. But we surely can say that democracy in India is far better than the other countries.
Basically, any country needs democracy for development and better functioning of the government. In some countries freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of the press are considered, to ensure that voters are well informed, enabling them to vote according to their our interests.

Merits of Democracy :

A full fledged Democracy has many advantages –

(1) It paves the way for the formation of a better government forms because it is more accountable and in the interest of the people.

(2) It improves the quality of decision making and enhances the dignity of the citizens.

(3) It provides a method to deal with differences and conflicts.

Challenges before Democracy – There are several challenges and bottlenecks which hamper the advancement of democracy and democratic values.

One of the most formidable challenge is corruption.

Corrupt practices adopted by way word politicians and greedy bureaucrats are a threat to democracy as it erodes the trust of citizens in Democratic institutions and democratic values.

India is considered to be the largest democracy around the globe with a population of 1.3 billion even though being the biggest democratic nation. India still has a long way to becoming the best democratic system. The caste system, which still prevails in some parts is hurting the socialist principle and fabric of democracy. Similarly communalism is on the rise throughout the globe and also in India, which interferes with the secular principle of democracy. So all these drawbacks and social evils need to be set aside to ensure a thriving democracy.

(b) Dowry System

Ans. Dowry System in our country, is an ancient system introduced in our country to show love, care and support to newly wedded couple. It is the process of transferring property to the grooms family from the brides. The entire system has lost its true intention and has just become a social problem and a curse to the society.

Nowadays, the dowry system is becoming like a business for some castes. The Dowry system is becoming a burden for the bride’s family. Many times if demand is not fulfilled for the boy’s side then the marriage is cancelled at the last moment.
During the British Raj, the dowry system was made mandatory leading to immense pressure on the brides family financially. Dowry violence has become a prominent aspect (feature) that can be observed till violence as a method to extract moneynand costly/ valuable gifts and home gadgets. This system leads to women being dependent on their husbands or in-laws after their marriage.

Effects of the Dowry system-

Gender Stereotyping – Women are frequently viewed as liabilities due to the dowry system. They are often subjected to subordination, harassment and second-class treatment in terms of education and other amenities.
Debacle on women’s career – The lack of women in labour/professional jobs is a big impediment in the way of their financial independence and an obvious cause of practicing the dowry system. The poorer sections of society send their daughters out to work to help them save money for their dowry. While most middle and upper class families send their daughters to school. They do not prioritize job opportunities.
Objectifies women – Today Dowry is more equivalent to a financial investment by the Bride’s family to get access to powerful connections and lucrative business opportunities. As a result women are reduced to commodities.
How to eliminate the social evil of dowry – The dowry system is a social taboo that must be abolished. Every girl should be proud to visit her in-laws. In India 5 out of 10 families face the curse of dowry system. Although government has enacted numerous regulations, the practice of dowry still continues to exist in our society. As a result, we must unite together to combat this menace. The first step should be introduced in our own families. At our homes, both boys and girls should be treated on equal platform and given equal opportunity in terms of educational & sports facilities.

(c) Your Vision in Life

Ans. A man without a vision is a man without a future. Any successful endeavor requires a vision. The original Hebrew word for vision is i.e. a dream, revelation or oracle. The word ‘Vision’ means the ability to see things that are sensible. In other words it means to see things through Gods eyes.

Hellen Keller was asked what would be worse than being born blind? She replied, “The only thing worse than being blind is to have sight without vision.” So a man without vision is a “man without a future.” Hence a man without a future will always return to his past. As time passes, be days, months, years or simply one experience can change our whole vision of the world, about life, about what really matters and consequently about our goals. Throughout my whole life. I have questioned so many aspects of my life, of existence and consequently my future. I never stopped wanting to achieve. Both boys and girls should be educated and given the freedom to become self-reliant.Education and freedom are the two most powerful and valuable gifts that parents can give to their daughters.Only education will allow her to be financially secure and a valuable family member, earning her due respect and suitable family standing. As a result, the best dowry gift that a father can bestow on his daughter is an excellent education, guidance and motivation to pursue her aspirations.
Secondary stringent law’s must be made to curb this menace and bring the perpetrators of dowry related crimes to look. Severe punishment to Dowry crime perpetrators will serve as a deterrent for those greedy families which would be seeking dowry from helpless families. Something big, that could change the whole world, some amazing adventure that would be the one thing that would give birth to all the amazing things that could happen next. As time passed I realized that life itself is one bit adventure, and that what I will do everyday will matter for me and for the people around me. I realized that life is not some perfect movie where there are good guys, bad guys and that in the end of one amazing journey everything would be solved. It may be a childish vision of the world, but had motivated me for years to do the thing, I believed would help me achieve this, and to believe in myself.
My cherished vision is to change my developing country to a developed one. I will use marketing as a tool to reach/realise my vision. For that, I will set up an innovative and optimized marketing solutions firm in my country.
I have a vision for change that has come from a longing of something more by a power greater than myself. Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I read this quote everyday and I have made the decision to stop complaining, about the world. I live in and take action to change a world I believe in.
It is my goal to inspire people’s imaginations again. To cause them to weave new dreams and remember old dreams that society forced them to forget. I want to help people become more than ever thought they could. It is my goal to bring business to the streets and end poverty from the entire world.
To accomplish my goals and to live my dreams. I know, I need to have a plan. I have learned that any dream is just fantasy if don’t have a throughout concrete plan of action that leads to the finish line. I know I will live my vision. I know my dreams, I will come true. I won’t sleep until the mission is complete.

Ans.: Dr. Sadao offered his personal boat with food and extra to the American soldier when he left his house. Before that Dr. Sadao immediately brought his surgeon’s emergency bag and operated upon him. He pulled out the bullet from his wound and gave him the essential medical treatment.

Dr. Sadao sought his wife Hana’s help while operating on the wounded white man. She assisted Dr. Sadao during the operation even though she had never even witnessed an operation before. She brought in the Towels and though she was not comfortable at the sight of the bleeding wound, she gave an aesthesia to the patient.
